19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former mentor his previous coach.
Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.
This represents the player's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.
Victory also means the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive play style and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an better serve.
He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the last five points to gain the advantage.
The pair exchanged break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a final set.
He defended four early-game opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
